Hello, my name is Andrea. The most important thing about me is I am a child of God.
The World Race first came into my life four years ago while I was visiting my friend’s church for their Teen Night and unbeknownst to me, a seed was about to be planted in my heart. One of the members of the church had just returned from her World Race Journey. She talked to us about her experiences being in the presence of God, accompanied by mountains of photos to help illustrate her stories. I was entranced by the idea of traveling the world and helping people. I went home that night and dove into The World Race website where I read blog after blog, allowing myself to be immerse in their experiences. The website got saved on my computer and remained as a daydream in my imaginative mind.
Every year or so The World Race would pop into my life by someone I knew randomly bringing it up in conversation. This past Fall Semester I watched a classmate go through the process of applying and being accepted. It was not by chance that we sat next to each other on the first day of class. God is always ten steps ahead of you.
Through listening to her talk about planning for the next year in preparation, God was watering the seed He planted four years ago. He was supplying the WR seed with everything it needed to give me the confidence to jump into this opportunity with both feet! And SURPRISE, I was accepted!! I recieved the call while at the library with my Dad. I burst into tears of joy as Andrew told me I had been accepted. That joy lasted for days; nothing could knock me down!
So now I am preparing to leave January 2015 for an 11 month experience that will change my life and hopefully will change the lives of those who I came in contact with. My squad and I will be spending a month in each of the following countries: India, Nepal, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Latvia, Estonia, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity to touch lives around the world through the name of Jesus.
