Besides raising the $16,267 for the trip and health insurance, I also have gear to buy: tent, pack, hammock, etc. I am not making a lot of money at my current job and was considering looking for a new job. However, I had told my job when they hired me that I would be staying until September. As I was praying about what to do, I felt the Lord speaking to me that character is more important than money. I need to honor my word and do what I said I would do. In that, trust God to take care of my needs. As I began to accept this, I realized I probably won’t be able to afford all the latest gear or buy all the quick-dry items I would like. The truth is, I don’t need all of that. God will provide my needs, and the rest I can live without. The trip for me isn’t about trying to make it as luxurious as possible… It’s more about understanding and experiencing how people around the world live and realizing how blessed I am. That even though I don’t consider myself rich.. I actually am in the top 10% of the world: I have a car and an education. I am so blessed!
I want to brag on the Lord! I have reached my first fundraising goal!! Thank you to everyone who has given and everyone who is praying!! You guys are amazing!! Thank you for partnering with me! Together we will make a difference in people’s lives and bring the love and hope of Jesus to the world!
