Our squad had team changes before we left for Africa. I am now on Team Waka with Dave Nobles, Alison Springer, Elaina Rogers, Rachael Allen, and Daniel Chantlos. We are enjoying getting to know each other and have already had many adventures as a new team! I’m looking forward to seeing what God has planned for us as we continue on this journey together.

I can’t believe our first month in Africa is already over! We spent our time in Swaziland at an orphange called El Shaddai. We were all blown away by the spectacular view we got to wake up to every morning and the inspiring story of El Shaddi was an encouraging reminder to us all of how faithful God really is.

El Shaddai is run by a South African couple who left their jobs and city lives to move to the top of a mountain where God called them to live and have an orphange. When they first moved there God told them He would send people to them to help care for all the kids. Being that they live in the middle of nowhere, they wondered how it would happen. Now a few years later they have workers and somehow World Race got their info and now they have teams that come and help out just like we did.

El Shaddai is completely Faith based, meaning they don’t ask people for money or donations, they dont even take offerings during Church service on Sundays because God said He will provide for them. Of course they run off of donations and help from other people, but they never ask for it, people just donate because God places it on their hearts.

We spent a lot of our time at the baby house and completly fell in love with the children there. We helped with Church services on Sundays and held Chapel every evening for the youth. They are going to be using a bigger building for the baby house so they can take more kids in, so we painted the walls and also painted a mural.
