Last Saturday on our day off, Philip, Charlotte, and I decided to go downtown and people watch and find some free live music. We asked a guy working in a shop where we could find some free live music and he directed us to an Irish pub that had a band from Dublin playing all week. So we headed over and as we were walking up we saw a man standing outside and when he heard our American accents he began talking to Charlotte and asking her where we were from and what we were doing in Romania. She told him we were on the world race and he knew what that was because he had sponsored a girl on the race before. His name was Glen and he was from Reno and in Romania for work. Charlotte noticed he was by himself and invited him to sit with us.

We talked with Glen for a while and he told us about his family and we shared stories with him about our journeys and we talked about God. We enjoyed a night of great conversation with a fellow Believer in an Irish pub in Romania. The whole time we were thinking about how cool it was that God had given us this divine appointment.  Glen told us that he had mentioned to God that it would be nice to have people to eat with, and then we showed up. Of course we knew it wasn’t coincidence, just a divine appointment from above to remind us that God is in control and always guiding our steps.  God gave him people to eat with and in return we got to meet a man of God full of wisdom and encouragement.

It may have been a “day off” but God still had a Divine Appointment for us and it was really cool to see it come together and know that it was all set up by Him. Usually God is working behind the scenes and many times things are happening that we don’t understand but it’s not every day that we get to see a small chain of events all coming together to bring us right where He wanted us to be.

As for the Irish Band, we were a little disappointed at first when we asked what time the band started and the waitress said they weren’t playing that night because they had to catch a flight. However the band was there eating dinner and after making friends with them they unpacked their instruments and played us a song!
