Hello to all! My legal name is Ananda, but I go by NANI. I could not be more PUMPED to start the race! I’m from a southern suburb of the Twin Cities called Lakeville (is that not the most stereotypical name they could think of for a Minnesota city) I went to school at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and have a double major in Psychology and Marketing.
Okay, lets get to the GOD stuff! So, I studied abroad in London England. This is when I trully started to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Something about sitting on a bench looking at the Thames River and hearing Big Ben ringing from Parliment made me sense God’s presence.
The next summer and year at school I roomed with Christian roommates. I’m pretty sure this was God’s plan all along because one if my summer I roomies became my Spiritual Mentor. Not to mention, the other four girls were and are inspiring Christian women. I love them all!
We can skip ahead to my graduation present to myself. A trip back to INDIA. Backing up, I was adopted from Delhi India when I was a baby. I have one brother and he is adopted from Patna India. So, no we are not blood brother and sister. Anyway,God told me I was finally ready to head back and see my where it all began. I took a month around northern India. Yes, I did see the Taj Mahal and it was AMAZING! Seriously, it is even better in person if you can even imagine that. Another highlight of my trip was going to see my very first Bollywood movie. I was instantly hooked and now I own about twelve of my own Bolly movies. Lastly, got to see my orphanage and actually touch the basket I was left in! At the end of the trip I was thanking God for showing me how much my biological parents loved me just by giving me up. As I’m sure you all know India is a very poor country.
Ever since my first trip to India I have wanted to go back in a mission trip capacity. That is where this trip comes in! My spiritual mentor told me about it, I applied that night, and here I am. I am passionate about helping others and can’t wait to get started!
