I am thankful for a God that brings me peace. A peace that I do not have to go out and search for, pay for, or exchange anything for. A huge lesson that I have learned in walking with Christ is this matter of peace. I’ve been very convicted of how I obtain this peace that I hear about all the time. I used to truly believe that I found the Lord’s peace in many ways, I just had to get to a specific moment, a special spot with my Bible, a sweet conversation with a friend, or a victory in ministry to find affirmation – then i’ll find peace.
WRONG.
Yes, all these things are great things, they are sweet moments that allow us to reflect on the joy and love that we receive as being followers of Christ but those are not the things that bring us peace.
It is the true presence of our steadfast God that has his hand on our shoulder through it all, that is where our peace should stem.
This is the peace that is being offered to us every second of everyday! all we have to do is allow it to consume us. why wouldn’t we?
A couple of days ago, several things set a wave of motion in my heart. A deeper aching for the lost and broken. A true, painful hurting for our world that is not finding this peace that I can so easily accept. It struck me hard, but I never want it to leave. I want to hurt deeper, because it is in this pain that I see the Truth come through. This pain clears up what is lost and broken so that I am able to witness and proclaim what is true and right, because of HIM.
I am thankful.
