As a World Racer, you are trained to expect the unexpected, but I did not expect it to come so soon. A few days ago I thought I would be flying to Bulgaria today, but there were a few roadblocks with logistics, so our route has been changed, and we are now starting in Central America!
As I write this I have just come off an overnight bus from DC to New York, and am now waiting for a flight to Costa Rica. When we land, we'll take a bus into Nicaragua, stay in a hostel overnight, then bus to Honduras tomorrow. So our first country is now Honduras.
I am super excited for the change, and can't wait to get started. Our logistics team is doing their best to make sure we get to the same countries we were originally scheduled for, just in a different order.
And for a few notes on Launch. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, Launch is the 4 days we spend in the States before leaving for our first country. It's a time for us to reconnect as a squad, bond with our small teams, and take a deep relaxing breath before we go.
My Launch was in Washington DC, and was pretty awesome. It gave me time to decompress from the last few stressful weeks and get more intimate with God. I also got to spend 4th of July in DC and watch the fireworks (pictures to come).
Also, thank you to all my supporters for getting me this far. I still have $6300 to go. If you know anyone who may be interested in following my journey or supporting me, please pass along my blog and/or contact information. Thank you…. and I'll touch base and start sharing stories when we get into Honduras.
And of course, I leave you with a song of the day:
