On the final leg of my trip back to Louisville I got to spend time thanking the Lord as I admired His beautiful sunset outside my window. With my recent decision to join the WR, everyday presents more opportunities to share. This weekend was no exception as I got to share the news with more friends of mine; their enthusiasm and support astound me…
On Friday night I got to visit with some fellow Virginia Tech Hokies from my Kappa pledge class. It had been years since we last saw each other but it was like we hadn't missed a beat. It was great catching up and sharing my news with them. My friend Amy A. had been in Botswana for 2.5 years with the peace corps. After her time there, she spent time traveling up the east coast of Africa; Mozambique and Swaziland were some of her favorite places. Amy and Kurt H. (a friend from Vanderbilt) immediately jumped at the opportunity to help host a fundraiser in Charlotte. And even better, Amy is a meeting planner and Kurt owns a restaurant so this could be amazing! Time to start thinking about what this looks like π I also got to catch up with another sorority sister, Susie W. We had a great conversation about where we are in our lives and in our relationships with Christ, her encouragement around my decision made me even more thrilled to take this leap of faith π
For the remainder of the weekend I got to spend time at the Lake with the family. This is the first time I've seen them since I got the news about WR. Such excitement, engagement, and interest. My Uncle has offered to help me move. My cousin's son has offered prayers. Another cousin has offered his knowledge of what to pack (and what not to pack) from his experience with the Marines. My sister-n-law has offered to help support me through gifts of those things that I need, "a present for every holiday I'm gone." There is so much love and support, I have been on cloud 9.
God puts fantastic people in our lives; whether they are part of our everyday or reconnecting at the prefect moments! I have not once doubted my decision and this weekend only made me more excited. I can't wait to share this with all of you π
Happily His,
Amy
Oh yeah, the girl sitting next to me on my trip home happened to be a sophomore at UK studying to become a pediatric nurse. Through sharing this decision with her, she was inspired to spend time in the medical mission field π
