Sunday morning was our final day all together before diving in to ministry, so we spent it together praising God. The service was a special time of everyone participating as the Holy Spirit laid something on their hearts. We were blessed to have Noe and his friend come worship with us, and to lead us in some beautiful Spanish worship songs. God really impressed on me again how much He loves each of us- we were made to be loved by Him and to know Him! He created us out of love, to lavish His love on us! Wow! Soak that thought in and really think about the power of that realization.
Really changing topics here…

We had the afternoon off, so 4 of us decided to go back to the Mayan ruins to really explore some more. They are giganamous and we had barely scratched the surface the first time we went (b/c we were so wiped out from 36+ hrs of travel). My very favorite way to spend a day off is just being outdoors doing some kind of activity. So I was lovin’ it- we went all over the grounds exploring, walking up creeks, climbing big hills, swinging on vines…I felt like Jane playing in the jungle! Suddenly, we were stopped in our tracks by a loud roar!! (Thankfully we had been warned ahead of time that the monkeys in the jungle sounded like lions) So, we headed toward the unbelievably loud roars, eager to see what we could find. Looking up we saw the trees starting to swing about 30 feet above us and large gray-black monkeys jumping through the trees! How cool! We stayed to watch awhile, and then went on exploring.

Next we came upon some large ruins back off the paths that were still being dug out- there were hieroglyphics and paintings along the top pillars.

We ended our exploration by finding beautiful waterfalls where we were able to clean up a bit.

The Mayans existed from about 100 BC to 900 AD. Wish I knew more about them to help the pictures really come alive. It’s such a crazy thought that a whole civilization once lived among these now ruins- it’s a vast area with glimpses left all throughout the jungle that has taken over much of it.
