from teammate Michelle:

The plane flies at about 15,000 feet.
In the cabin, the air is slightly dry and the lights are dimmed.
Outside, however, the dawn is just breaking.
Colors swirl as the sun bursts above the clouds and greets the sky’s inhabitants.
Unfortunately, as Jeff Goins recounts, only several of the plane’s occupants returned the greeting.

Jeff, Editor-in-Chief for the newly established missions E-Zine “Wrecked for the Ordinary,” describes that morning and the lessons that the Lord revealed to him during his flight.
As he sat in his window seat, he could not help but be amazed by the brilliance of the sunrise above the clouds.
After several minutes, he eventually looked away to observe his fellow passengers’ reactions to the sight.
  What he saw surprised him.
Rows and rows of passengers … most still asleep.

It was in that moment that the Lord painted to Goins a picture of the church in America.
A sleepy giant, the church in America is definitely not dead yet … it has simply fallen asleep and has missed the big picture.
Comfortable and with its very own climate control, the church has managed to isolate itself … above the clouds and above the nitty-gritty life in the real world below.
Handed a bag of peanuts, we’ve been given just enough food to appease the stomach, but not enough to truly quench our hunger.
And we wonder why people have become bored with the church.
We’ve traded the glorious sunrise outside for a reclining seat and an unsatisfying nap.

We’ve abandoned the idea of life with God as an
adventure … and have settled for a life where we simply hit the pew every once in awhile.

It is for these reasons that Goins hopes to portray Christ and Christianity in a new light.
Gone is the picture of the slumbering Body of Christ … a new day has dawned and Goins desires to be a part of waking up a generation.
A part of the plan to do this includes a newly developed “electronic magazine” (E-Zine) which will highlight stories of people serving all around the world and living out this great adventure.
  A separate entity than
Adventures in Missions or even the World Race, “Wrecked for the Ordinary” will include six different categories: community, culture, simplicity, poverty, arts, and adventure.
Highlighting the possibility of abundant life, the E-Zine will launch within the next two weeks.

Find meaning.
  Find purpose.
  Find adventure.
  Find the
unordinary
