Fundraising, it brings to mind so much for me and most of it is negative. No one likes asking people for money. I know I don’t. But I am not scared to ask. I know I need to. And sometimes that’s how God gets things going.
But I wanted to expand my fund raising horizons outside of just asking people for money and since I love buying with a purpose (that is buying where the proceeds go to help someone in need) I thought to myself how can I sell something where the proceeds go to my trip?
The answer: t-shirts, but what kind of t-shirt?
This is where my real problem has come with this idea. I had too many options. At first I thought let’s do an awesome design on the back and have this amazing quote with some scripture and of course there has to be something on the front as well. So I sent an email to poor Josh*, my t-shirt design contact, and gave him 4 different ideas and told him to do his thing. This is what I got:
I LOVED IT, minus the quote. It wasn’t right. The world was so cool. Just that quote.
So back to the drawing board. This time I thought since the quote was what got me last time let’s try a shirt based on a different quote. And maybe this time we don’t need front and back as long as the design is super awesome. So poor Josh got another email and this is what I got:
I hated it! The feet! Awful!
Let’s just say, I was a little frustrated. So sitting at the beach house with my sister during Thanksgiving we took to Instagram for inspiration.
After several options and lots of super cute ideas she came across a photo that said “Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created. Esther 4:14” I fell in love! It hit the feeling of this trip for me so spot on.
I have always felt like I have been called for more. I know where I am in my life is not as far as God wants to take me. And I know I am going to do amazing things. And this trip is part of that. This is the trip God has created me for. And it doesn’t hurt that Esther is my favorite female in the Bible.
So I sent poor Josh another email. The shirt wasn’t quite right the first 5 times we worked on it. But 6 times a charm 🙂 And here it is:
I love it so much. It is perfect for me.
So now I am selling these beautiful shirts in every size I can 🙂
