I can’t wait:
– To grow crazy close with my team and squad.
– To not shower and not care how much I smell or how greasy my hair is. I think Im looking forward to this one a little too much…haha
– To finally meet and pour into the people all around the world that God has already given me a deep love for.
– To eat weird bugs and food I don’t recognize just to make my siblings and sunday school kids think Im like way cool. 🙂
– To be broken of the control issues I have had for most of my life.
– To grow wholly secure in and dependent on God while away from the people, places, accessibility to things and help, that make me comfortable.
– To realize how much I can actually live without.
– To experience the Church outside of the local church.
– To be pushed beyond myself into the strength of Jesus’ arms
– To never ever be the same.
(and so much more)
The truth is…I can wait. From the moment that I was accepted to go on the World Race, I felt no sense of urgency to leave even though there are all of those things I listed to look forward to. God gave me a complete sense of contentment and peace about where I am right now. I don’t want that to be confused for lack of excitement. I couldn’t be more excited about this amazing adventure and ministry that I am about to embark on. But, it starts in January.
There are things that I am soaking in and enjoying while I am here, right where I am supposed to be, for the next 5 months:
– Talking with my Mama for hours without dependency on WiFi or time zones
– My 10 year old brother, Sam, yelling “AMY!!!” literally every day when I get home from work.
– Just getting to love on, goof around with, and be present in my siblings lives. The role of Big Sister brings me an insane amount of joy.
– Going out to diners with my bestie and laughing like we don’t care who is watching (because we don’t).
– Worshiping in the congregation of my home church and sitting under the teaching and preaching of my Pastor.
– The amazing 5th and 6th graders in my Sunday School class.
– Going into my city and getting great coffee with friends.
– This coming fall…cool weather, pretty leaves, cardigans, pumpkins, hayrides, cider. The Best!
– My cozy bed and hot showers at home.
– The time I have left to invest in the lives of the kids that I am Nanny to.
– Every little luxury that I probably won’t even recognize as that until Im on the WR.
– The excitement of watching how God provides and waiting to see how he will continue to provide as I prepare to leave.
It may not sound all exciting like 11 months of travel and culture and missions work. But, these next 5 months are also special time of growth, and love, and service, that God has called me to and I am so so thankful for it.
