I have been home for over a month, and it hasn’t always been easy. After camp, I was ready to go and serve, but I came home and struggled to adjust…and wait. It is so quiet and slow on the farm, which I normally enjoy, but time seemed to be dragging. I had a lot of time to think, which isn’t always productive or easy. There was a lot to process after camp, and spiritual attacks were coming in full force. My weaknesses seemed to be amplified, and I began to question things. Am I crazy?  Am I capable of doing what God has called me to? Am I spiritually ready?

As I ran on the treadmill the other day, God reminded me of 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  God’s word continues to bring comfort, especially as we prepare to go. We can’t go into this journey alone, only God can really give us all that we need to do the work we will be doing. This year will be all about change, sacrifice, communication, letting go of our selfish ways and expectations, and more than I can even comprehend right now.

After about three weeks of being home, God really changed my perspective and I began focusing on all the blessings I’ve had during this period of waiting. The time with my family was such a blessing, seeing old friends, and eating the food my mom cooked and baked. YUMMM! Just as I started to get comfortable again, it’s time to go. I am sure this will be a continuous feeling on the race.

Right now, I am in Thousand Oaks, CA, with Sarah. We went to Santa Monica today. We sat next to Dane Cook at lunch, and now we are enjoying the remaining time here. I leave LAX Sunday night around 11:50pm. We have a layover in Hong Kong and then on to the Philippines. Here we go!

Prayer Requests:
Pray for safe travels for our squad. Pray for those still traveling to LAX and everyone as we travel to the Philippines.
Pray as we come together again. Pray for team unity, communication, openness, and love.

Pray that God will just fill us with his love for the people we will serve.
