Hello Friends and Family!
Some of you may have heard me talking, or seen on Facebook, that I am going on the World Race! I want to explain a little bit more about that, and maybe answer a few of your questions, along with asking for your help.
I am writing a blog about my adventures, both the preparation, and the actual traveling part. So, follow me! amylarson.theworldrace.org
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip around the world. It is a part of Adventures in Missions, an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. Adventures in Missions has been around since 1989, and the World Race since 2006. In 2011 they sent out the 1000th World Race participant.
I am leaving in August 2016! The countries I am supposed to go to (it could change closer to the time I leave) are: Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize. Possible ministries could be: teaching English, construction, caring for orphans, preaching, praying door-to-door, feeding the hungry, befriending teenage prostitutes, healing the sick, visiting people in prison, and probably a lot more that I can’t even imagine yet! And in addition to the ministry, I could do all sorts of other awesome things: hiking up a volcano, visiting ancient ruins, trading in marketplaces, flying over Mount Everest, and many other things I don’t yet know about.
Now for the asking for help part. Traveling the world is exciting, but it is also going to be hard. I desperately will need prayers, both now as I prepare, and while I am out there. Also, in order to go I need to raise about $17,000 before I leave. That sounds like a lot, but I know that God placed it on my heart to go, and I know that he will provide the funds. If you want to be a part of sending me out, there are a couple of ways to do it. You could go on my blog and click the “support me” link and you can use a credit card online. Or mail a check to Adventures in Missions P.O. Box 742570 Atlanta, GA 30374-2570. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions with “Amy Larson World Race” in the memo line. Also, if you want to make a monthly donation they have something called dynapay (adventures.org/dynapay) to donate from a checking account-this is the best online method because there is no transaction fee.
And because it IS a tax deductible gift, I’m required to include this paragraph:Adventures In Missions is a tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3) and is a member of the ECFA. (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). Due to IRS and ECFA regulations governing the administration of tax deductible donations given in support of a particular trip/program, support contributions given on behalf of an individual will be used to offset the costs of the trip/program you are involved in. All contributions are non-refundable regardless of the participant’s success in completing the program.
Thank you!
Amy Larson
