In a little place tucked away in Myawaddy, Burma, lies a community of people who have had leprosy at one point in their life. Fully treated, they are left with the markings of a “leper”. Shunned by their own people, visitors are rare and jobs are scarce. Most men, husbands have left due to the stigma; thus, making it a woman ran village. An eighty some year old, boney grandmother, who is going blind, takes care of her three great grandchildren on top of the rest of her community. Money is scarce. Their main way of placing food on the table is by crossing into Thailand and turning themselves into beggars, hoping for provisions.

new life equals new hope for these people
These beautiful people, this village is only one small glimpse of the heart behind a group of people called OutPour Movement. Founded by a husband and wife, 7 years ago, Ray and Candace Ward believe that their ministry is fueled by the “outpour” of their personal relationship with God and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Their vision is for the street, abandoned kids of Thailand/Burma as well as the backpackers coming through Mae Sot.
Looking at Myawaddy, Burma from the Thailand border
While living in Mae Sot, I will be joining the OurPour team to further and expand the vision. The three main areas of focus will be “The Refuge”, a children’s home for Karen teenagers, building relationships in Burma while helping to design self-sustaining income for the communities, as well as serving at a burger restaurant called Famous Rays. Through the restaurant, 6 young adult refugees from Burma are able to earn an income, be discipled, while also providing opportunities for pouring into the local and NGO communities.

JOY erupted as visitors arrived
wondering why all these “Galawaa” (white people) are in his home
These people, these faces, these places is the “why” to my move. Big things are happening. Lives are changing. Strongholds are breaking. God is moving. It is an honor for YOU, for US to be a part!
