So, have I ever mentioned how I am not friends with my computer?!  I just had one awesome blog written when all of a sudden, my computer ate it up!  Poof!  Gone!  Adios!  So here goes an another attempt…

Adventure.  I live for it.  I crave it.  This past Saturday my cravings were fulfilled!  My team had the opportunity to go to the Botanical Gardens in Penang as well as hike the largest hill here.  Now, I had some pretty lofty expectations for this garden since I had seen something similar in the States, Mexico, and Australia.  To be honest, this one appeared to be pretty lame.  It was not until we found a secret, off the path trail that my thoughts about this place began to change.

This trail that perhaps was not even a trail was exquite!  The rocks were covered with this incredible green moss.  It pretty much looked like a setting for a movie.  It was that breathtaking!  My heart was captivated time and time again.  While off  the beaten trail, we had our own little America’s Next Top Model photo shoot.  Yes, that’s right!  It was the best.  See for yourself by checking out our team photos under the LINK section on my home page 🙂  You’ll love them!

These really ugly monkeys surrounded this place.  They would just be chillin on the side of grass hanging with the people.  Our friend, Cara, told us of an encouter she had with these monkeys.  When she came one time she was eating some food.  The monkeys got mad and tried to take it from her.  Needless to say, she learned a very valuable lesson: do not bring food to the park!  These monkeys also do not enjoy the site of teeth.  For some reason it ticks them off and they feel attacked.  So here is a little clip of when Sarah smiled at these monkeys…

To round out the day, we climbed the tallest, steepest hill in Penang.  It was the mother of all beasts.  We began to hike this hill, but due  to the steepness, four of the girls decided to take a jeep up.  It was left to Brian and me to conquer this Goliath by foot.  From top to bottom, this hill was 2.5 miles (5 Kilometers) of pure steepness.  It ws encouraging because every few kilometers there was some signage that kept us going.  Practically, I was crawling by the time we reached the top…it was that bad.  My legs were burning like no other.  It was like I was back in college doing a hill workout all over again, except ten times worse!  When we arrived at the top, I felt a little Rocky Balboa sensation run through my bones.  We had dominated this beast!  As I looked out over the hill, I could see the island of Penang as well as the mainland.  It was simply astonishing.  God never ceases to amaze me with His incredible creations!
