On Thursday morning we went to Bethania community to bring water filters that were donations by friends of the group. We unloaded the bus and brought them past the soccer fields and down the tiny sidewalks to the middle of the community in which Dories Promise had previously built a community center. The people gathered to hear about the Lord’s provision and receive their water filter. The leader of the community had nominated 30 families to receive the filters and these were the first filters for anyone in the community to have in their homes.
After Pablo, our leader, gave a few words, several of the community members spoke saying that we must give glory and praise to the King of Kings, Jesus. Another man spoke up and said they had prayed and these filters were the fruits of those prayers. I was so happy to bring the filters to them because maybe now they can begin to understand even more that God is their living water. Without know the satisfying taste of physical water I am not sure that they would understand that concept of God but now I think the living water can be even more evident to them even though I can see that some of them currently are living for Christ.
To celebrate the filters they lit fireworks and the noise was so loud that even though Molly was prepared she still got scared and threw her phone up in the air! It was hilarious! Thankfully she caught it!
The rest of the day we were in Antigua! We got to tour the town and visit the cross with the volcano view! We spent time in the market buying things for family and friends and I saw a lady that I had bought from three years ago and she actually remembered me and the two friends and leaders I was with last time. It was so fun to see her again! Before returning home to play with the kids we ate at Mono Loco. They have nachos bigger than my head! It was delicious.
Three of us might have also snuck off to the nearby mall after Antigua to print pictures for my kids. It was fun talking with Molly and Pablo and there was even starbucks at the mall. yum. I really enjoyed the conversations we had though. heart to heart!
That night we did more zumba and before my girls went to bed I laid on the floor cuddling with them while we watched Stuart Little in Spanish. It was so precious to me to have them in my arms or and holding their hands. I love them!
