Training camp starts tomorrow! I can't believe it is already here! It came up so fast and I know the launch date for my route is quickly approaching. After a phone call with my friend Ashton, who usually pulls the real me out, I realized I am actually a little nervous to leave so much behind and be gone for so long and then after it all to come back to changed people and all my friends being in new places in life (graduating college and all). We are all growing up though, and I will come back changed too. I picked Sara up from the train station around noon and got to talking about how we are sure there are some parts of us we will leave behind as God shows us what He is not pleased with and there are things we will come home with that He instills in us while we’re away. Halleluiah!
Lately people have asked, "What made you want to do something like the world race?" I think today is a great day to reflect on that question. In high school, my mentor Sherry would always receive calls and tell me stories about this world racer Ashli. After meeting her and her husband and hearing their stories I was determined to go on the world race because I wanted to encounter Jesus and live for Him in the ways they got to while they were gone. I just can't believe I am actually doing it now, well in about a month and a half ill be taking off. I think it was Ashli and Dave’s laughter from joy and tears from the way the Spirit moved that inspired me to apply.
The scripture that has also inspired me is 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore do not run aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
The Lord gave me these verses soon after I was accepted to the race and I read it just the other morning in a “His Princess Warrior” book where the author referred to me as Jesus’s Royal Runner! I’m ready to run with you Lord and team! Let’s gooooo!!!
I’ll update everyone about camp when I get back! But please do pray for my team and I while we are meeting each other and camping out and worshipping together! I heard training camp was intense, and the weather in Atlanta is forecasted to be 90s and thunderstorms, so ya I need your prayers! I will be praying the prayer of Jabez too, it has been changing me. Matt and me have been doing the book “The Prayer of Jabez” and being blown away by the Jabez moments God has given us. I am excited to see what the Lord does while away at camp.
