…So, I had celebrated my 24th birthday in Mozambique on June 15th. Actually, the celebration started on the 13th when I was still in Maputo with Raimie’s team. They took me out for a surprise birthday lunch. During the lunch everyone said something that they loved about me. (This made me feel so appreciated, and totally at home since its something my family does on birthdays.) Then, they surprised me with birthday cake that I had seen in the kitchen but didn’t know was for me. And, it was really good! And, I got to eat extra icing… 🙂

Then, on the 15th, I was with Kacie’s team in Dondo. They started off the day with surprise pancakes for breakfast. There was even Nutella and Peanut Butter to put on them, and everyone wrote notes and made signs for me! Then, I got to paint a wall, which was really exciting and made me feel artistic…which was a really fun feeling to have on my birthday! It was a wall that another missions team had painted before we got there, but the concrete had crumbled in spots so it needed to be touched up. The background was sort of like swirly tye-dye with each color blending in to the next, and the fruit of the Spirit was painted on top. So, my job was to mix paint until I matched the colors and mimic the original effect.
Ok, enough about the random painting….THEN, a local lady came and twisted my hair, cheap weave from the local market included. The end result was something like dread-locks, but in order to finish Natalie and I had to cut off all of the extra pieces of extensions at the ends and burn them off one by one.

Then, the team took me out to this really cool local restaurant. It was kind of like a open patio feel. I got Chicken and Chips, and they surprised me with birthday cake! I definitely got spoiled!
A birthday to remember!!
