The second week in Ireland was spent helping with Destiny Island, which is like a vacation Bible school. Going into orientation I just figured this would be a average Bible school with arts and crafts, Bible storys, and songs. As the youth director began to explain for us his hopes for the week I knew God was going to do some amazing things. He spoke about how they hoped to give these kids the opportunity and environment to see the kingdom come both in them and through them.

So instead of just saying these are just kids let's treat them like kids and entertain them for a few hours, tell them about Jesus, and send them home we encouraged the kids in the fact that they could change their community. That Jesus has given them power. His promises are not just for the adults but for the children.

During this week these kids amazed me with their faith. I thought it would take them awhile to understand Gods word and to step out in faith but I watched them go out on the streets and pray for people with boldness. The great thing about being a kid is you don't have that fear or lack of faith. They heard that Jesus heals people who are hurting. So they were happy when we told them we were going to pray for people. When they saw someone one the street who was sick or in a cast they would get excited to pray and ask Jesus to take their pain away. A lot of people were healed and many brought to tears from their simple prayers.

We need to be more like children. To hear Gods word and just go in faith knowing He is going to do what He says. We don't have to have perfect vocabulary or long prayers, because the simple prayer of Jesus take their pain away is fine. So after this month my prayers to be more like a child, to have no fear or doubt, and to always take the leap of faith.
