SWAZILAND

Swaziland, one of the most beautiful places on earth. That is where I spent my 8th month on the race. Swaziland, although it is beautiful has the highest HIV rating in the world. Nearly 75% of it's population is carrying the virus. Also, 61% of all baby's born in Swaziland will not reach age two. So, the country has a negative growth rate and It is said that at it's current rate the Swazi people will be extinct by 2050.

This month we were blessed to partner with El Shadi. El Shadi is a orphange started by a family from South Africa with a heart for Swaziland. The kids who live here are very well taken care of. They are like a family, a very big family. El Shadi has a school not only for their kids but the local children and they also have a clinic.

During our month here we helped chip paint in the boys house so that it can be repainted. We started the foundation for a new baby house. Ran the chapel for the kids every evening. Taught and did praise and worship at church on Sundays. Worked in the clinic. We also got to work in the baby house, which was my favorite place to be.

It's amazing to me that every month is exactly what we need. This month was a month to recharge as we were surrounded by neverending beauty. Looking out over the vast mountian ranges you could just feel God in His creation. This month even though we had plenty to do we also had enough time to just sit and have are quiet times with God. This month was truely a blessing and I'm gonna miss this place once we go.
