I was 17 when I first heard about the World Race. My heart was beating for the women and children around the world who were (are still) being sold into sex slavery. I ran across a former World Racer’s blog that a teacher of mine had shared on her Facebook page and the girl was currently in Thailand. In Thailand the ministry opportunity is working in the red light district with those women. I knew I would have that opportunity one day. I read all about the World Race at the age of 17 and said this, this is what makes life more than just the average day to day living.
Fast forward 5 years later and guess where God has placed me? He has allowed me to have that same opportunity that I had dreamed about so many years ago. At times I question why I am here and at times I honestly forget that moment many years ago when I was in my bedroom knowing the World Race was for me. In the end though He knew I would be here though, He even knew all of the hard days I would have while I am here.
The thing is though God cares about our dreams so deeply. He cares about them, because He sees His planning coming to life. I think the dreams that we all dream up in our beautiful minds are just little glimpses of what our futures are going to look like. I believe God has allowed us to see into what He has for us, even if not in the entirety of it all. Dreams are beautiful and I will throw in the cliche of “dream on dreamer” here.
2015 was the year that God allowed me to begin living the journey of one of my greatest dreams I have had yet in my 22 years of living. At the start of this new year, 2016, I am still getting to live this dream. It is month 7 of the World Race and I can hardly believe it some days, but I believe that is how dreams are. In the midst of them coming true you can hardly believe it, but God looks down and smiles. He smiles, because He has known all along that my dreams and that your dreams are just a little glimpse of what His future reality is for you and I.
