“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6
This month in Nepal has been more than wonderful for me. I have seen the Lord’s beauty shine so brightly here and even in the midst of what appears to be darkness I have been given the eyes to see the light.
Drugs. Slums. Destruction. Other religions. All of these things add up to darkness. Those around me scream the darkness of this place, but when it comes down to it the light of God is here. It is here even when it doesn’t appear that way, because where Gods children go there also is His presence and where His presence is there also is His light.
I have learned a lot about individuality through this though, because a lot of the people around me are perceiving Nepal as a very dark place. These are all valid feelings though of different people and I’ve realised that it’s okay to perceive something differently than the person sitting next to me. Each person experiences God in a different way and if experiencing light in the darkest of places is a way I can experience God than it is okay.
Down the darkest of streets where it is obvious that there isn’t light I encourage you to look a little closer. Stand firm in the fact that as a child of God you carry His presence of light among you. Walk that street and bring His light to that place. Notice the littlest of things that are already light there though. Look at the sun shining or the child smiling up at you. Know that the people here are just as much loved by God as you are.
