For over two long years, I was one of those friends who did not have Facebook. The one friend you would have to inconveniently text to tell about an event because she didn’t get an e-invite, the one you couldn’t tag in a status, or who had absolutely no idea what was going on with anyone from high school. The break was long overdue considering how much precious time I had wasted in college that I could have been studying or on more useful pursuits. After two years though, I am back on the grid due to a life changing experience I am about to be embarking on. In September 2014, I will be leaving America to live overseas for 11 months and serve in 11 countries doing missions trip called the World Race. I know that God can use Facebook for good in my life and that I will be able to use it to connect with family, friends, and supporters while I am gone.

The World Race is a program through Adventures in Missions, a nondenominational Christian organization that sends people on short term mission trips globally and supports ministries and missionaries in America and abroad. I will be traveling with a group of 50 missionaries (ages 21-35) called a squad to each country. We will be broken down into teams of about 6-7 to work with different ministries throughout the month. Each day on the race is unique and looks different depending on where you serve. Generally though, we can expect to be working in orphanges, building churches or schools, praying for the sick in hospitals and in homes, working with sex trafficking victims, leading VBS, giving sermons and ultimately sharing about the hope and redemption found in Jesus Christ alone.

This mission trip will be one of the most difficult, wonderful, stretching steps of faith I have ever taken but I also know that where God guides, He provides. As I leave the familiarity and comforts of America, I will need His strength, grace, peace, love, and endurance to walk out what He’s called me to.

Practically, I also need financial support to raise $16255.35 to be able to travel to the nations. This pays for all transportation including plane tickets, food, and lodging. I know though that we are all apart of one body and some are called to go and some are called to send. In this season of my life, God is calling me to GO.I have a deadline rapidly approaching and need to have $3,500 in order to attend training camp with my squad. For those of you reading this, will you pray fully consider whether God is calling you to support me and this mission to:

“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!” 1 Chron. 16:24

Prayer will be essential and I also need faithful prayer partners that will be willing to pray for myself, my squad, the people we will be ministering to and for His will to be done, not our own. Even if you cannot support this financially, know that your prayers are important and can avail much!

Also, you can come alongside me on this journey by subscribing to my blog and getting updates when I post one. I will be starting to blog at least biweekly now until I leave and will be doing updates when I am in the field.

Blessings,

Amber

Below you will find a video made by a previous racer about their time in Swaziland, which is one of the countries we will be serving in!
