We left Noordhoek at 7:30 am the morning of the 7th. we got on a ridiculoulsy nice bus, thanks to P-Squad, with air con, a bathroom, a dvd player & 3 tv screens as well as reclining seats.
The bus drivers were awesome and let us stretch our legs every few hours. my feet and legs still ended up swelling, along with many other travelers, but they were better than they'd been before
We arrived at immigration into Mozambique, around 10:30am the next day and stayed about 1.5 hours. it took that long to get 28 or so of us through which included buying our visa's at the border. it was $25 USD/person cheaper to purchase them at the border than through the mail! after the border crossing, we got back onto our bus and continued on our way.
We arrived in Maputo around 1 pm the same day. Then we stayed with a missionary family that JM&A know which was such a nice blessing. They provided us with beds to sleep on and made us a delicious dinner that included spaghetti, bread, coleslaw, sodas and more, plus they provided us with breakfast the next day and just really took care of us in such a tangible way. They really were Christ's hands and feet to us, which really touched all of our hearts.
On the 9th, we got on another bus, and leave at 8:30 am towards our final destination of Incala. 24 people and 21 packs all fit on this 24 seater bus – that in itself was a miracle! it was a tight squeeze, but we all had seats to sit on and were relatively comfortable. Siloam was on there for 3 hours and then we arrived in our "town." I write that in quotations because it's really small, not a lot of people, and there are maybe 10 buildings on the side of the road where people sell things like fabric, soda's, chips, and whatnot (mostly for the people who are driving through and might want to stop.
There we left our last 2 teams as they traveled further on to their city. Tune in for their blogs, as they're going to be amazing stories of what their travel days looked like!
With love,
Amanda
