Lately I have been reflecting on resolutions. Each year as January rolls around we all do it.. we start thinking about what our resolutions will be. Loose weight, read my bible more, be kinder, set and reach goals, work out more…  Before we know it December is here and we haven’t done anything and we hate ourselves for it.
Then we set the bar higher.
After a while thinking like that about ourselves, we project that on our God. We beat ourselves up for not reaching this crazy expectations we have set and then think God thinks that way too.
You at your best will still disappoint you.
This dream you, you have in mind won’t make you happy. You’ll find something else to obsess over, something that needs fixing. When it comes to God.. You are your best will never be good enough. That’s why we NEED Jesus.
As I reflect on my year and what is to come I have to soak up the reality that the race won’t fix me. The race isn’t going to make me into a perfect version of me. It’s not going to fix everything.
It doesn’t have to. I am pumped to share that with people. I am so excited to share the truth with people that all their baggage and sin doesn’t make God see them any different. God doesn’t expect or want us to come to him fixed. The blood of Jesus is what fixes us.
We are clean.
Guys adventure awaits, for me and you. Don’t let thoughts of failure or falling short get you down. Take 2014 by the horns and live life to the fullest. Find adventure in the ordinary, seek forgiveness when needed, and know that when you fall it’s ok.
Tomorrow I get to start a crazy adventure, thanks to you. I am excited to share each step with you! Tomorrow Atlanta, Thursday South Africa.
Bring it on world. It’s the world race!
