More like LIFE update. I have been a little all over the place, thus the blog has been unattended.
My apologies.
The last month has been filled with the end of the school year, moving, prepping and preparing for the new intern! Busy Busy Busy. It's been a rollercoaster of emotion but I can confidently say I am leaving Bethany, and it's students in good hands, as bittersweet as that is.
A little back ground, for those who don't know following graduation in May 2012 I moved to California for a youth ministry (DCE) internship at Bethany Lutheran in Long Beach California. It went amazingly. Great congregation, awesome families, and of course students who taught me more than I could ever teach them. Through out the year I was sure God's will was for me to stay at Bethany and continue ministry there… unless ACF in Austin had a spot for me 🙂
Little did I know God had other plans. He said get comfortable with being uncomfortable because the next year plus will be hard.
Now I am at the first hard part, saying goodbye. Being so far from home these people have literally become family. From Aimee being second mom for ALL things from airport rides to helping me through a sprained ankle and much more; and feeling like a McDaniel girl at Thanksgiving dinner, getting an "m name" -Mandy at the Callows, becoming a honorary Veliz sister from just about day one, and now living with the Orr family. Everyone has made effort to take me in, make sure my needs are met, or just to let me know I am loved. Now I have to say goodbye to that.
So yes hard is an understatement.
The glorious part…
I have raised , with the help of GREAT people, over 4,000 towards my goal. Not only that I have at least half of the gear I need. How crazy is God.I sign up for this trip, thinking to myself how nuts it is, and God just blows my expectations out of the water. THROUGH YOU!
I think my favorite part of this journey so far was this past weekend. Some of my California moms threw a fundraiser for me where we raised 1,126.
$1,126!!!!
I love how God is using people I love to make this happen. It's not a coincidence or by chance. He put me in a good place, surrounded by great people and now together we are doing great things for the kingdom!!
How cool is that.
Thanks for making it possible.
P.S.
PICTURES COMING SOON… sorry for the lack of images 🙁
