I've been avoiding it like the plague.
I hate asking for help.
But my moment of clarity on this issue came at an unexpected moment a few days ago.
I was catching up on Falling Skies (a post-apocalyptic drama about the world after it's been invaded by aliens – awesome!) and in this episode, the main character is wandering through a sea of abandoned cars looking for supplies, when he comes across a giant bag of money. He examines it, pauses for a moment, and then the next scene cuts to him burning the huge pile of dough for warmth.
Now, I understand that this is just a silly tv show, but that scene really made me stop and think…
To God, isn't that all money really is?
I mean, COME ON. My God created the stars, the ocean, every cell in the human body – and I'm going to limit Him on MONEY? REALLY??
Matthew 7 says:
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
I sent out my first round of support letters in April, and since then God has faithfully provided $4,600 towards the race!
I'm so very thankful to have had the support of my amazing friends and family as we've held yard sales, car washes and support dinners over the past few months. On top of those funds, I have also been able to purchase almost ALL of my gear already, which has cost no less than $1,000 – so I am incredibly blessed.
But there is still a long way to go.
- By August 18th I need to have $6,500 total in my account to meet the next deadline – only $1,900 away!
