I remember singing this song when i was a kid. it was one of those kids songs that we sang at VBS and Sports Camp. I don’t remember all the times we sang it, but I remember singing it a lot.
But I grew up and forgot about this song.
One day, I was sitting in my tent in Malawi. (December) I was reading my Bible in the morning and having some quiet time before the day started. This song popped into my head. I just sort of sang it to myself. I was halfway through the song before I realized what I was singing. I scribbled down the words and stared down at them in disbelief.
This song is POWERFUL.
I mean – it’s talking about living in the power of the Spirit. Making the lame walk. Giving sight to the blind. SETTING CAPTIVES FREE. The only thing this song is missing is something about raising the dead 🙂
I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head since December. It reminds me of the power that I have flowing out of me. It reminds me of the authority I have in Christ to do the things He has called me to do.
There is a spring within my soul. It carries the refreshing water of the Spirit. It fills me and refreshes me. It also pours out of me when I am full. It can’t stay in this human jar of clay. It has to pour out to everyone I come in contact with.
You should sing this song when you feel dry and empty. You should sing it and remember what is pouring out of you. And you should realize while you are singing it that when that well springs up in you…you WILL have life abundantly. You will be LIVING the abundant life. And then, I hope, you will feel the water of the Spirit rise up in your soul and give you a refreshing boost 🙂 Just be prepared to give it away 😀
