Our second month in Africa has been quite a jewel. Coming out of Tanzania it couldn't have been more peaceful, restful, and unifying. My team stayed with Sylvie and her loving family. After hearing her story of fight and God's provision in her life through the genocide, it was amazing to still experience the love that was poured out onto us. We worked with pastor John at Victory church, preaching, evangelizing, encouraging church members, and teaching the nursery school children English. Constant Mzungu chants, and inappropriate “good mornings” every afternoon were what we dodged bicyclists to down the busy dirt road to and from church each day. Evening tea is what our afternoon program was scheduled around, and fried plantain chips were like candy when put on the table for dinner.
Our biggest blessing was a living room with couches in our house. Unity was deepened this month and the Lord has put us all on an upward path for his greatness.
Please pray for this nation and these people as they continue to rebuild and rebuild from the devastation experienced 18 years ago during the genocide. There is such hope and beauty here, and it is evident how much the Lord loves his children in Rwanda… Pulling them out of and through such darkness. Please pray for more strength and increased grace here as they continue to rebuild.
