Dear David,
God gave me one perfect month to spend with you. He brought me to this mountain in Swaziland because He knew you would be here. He has each of us exactly where He wants us and with you was exactly where I was supposed to be.
8 years ago you were brought to this orphanage. You were just a baby. Your mother died from AIDS shortly after you were born. Your father couldn’t care for you so he abandoned you.
You probably don’t remember the life you came from because you were so little, but most of your friends remember theirs. One was beaten and hung from a tree. One was found abandoned on a forest road, looking for his family. Another was raped by her grandfather. One crawled through a window to save himself and his brother after their mother abandoned them. One was almost killed by her mother when she was just 3 years old.
But something amazing happened to each of you. God came in and rescued you. He pulled you out of darkness and brought you here to give you hope and a future, just like He says in Jeremiah. It’s so evident that His protection surrounds you.
You’re now in school and one of the brightest kids in your class. You have clothes to wear and food to eat. You have friends to play with. You have a roof over your head and a place to lay your head at night. You’re surrounded by people who love you. You now have the opportunity to chase your dreams.
Most importantly, you now know your Father. The Father that is always with you. He knows where you’ve been and where you’re going. When you face trials He is there helping you through them. He has His arms wrapped tightly around you. You cannot even begin to imagine the plans He has in store for you.
I will think about you every day but my love for you can’t compare to the Father’s deep, deep love for you. You are so loved, David.
Sincerely,
Amanda
