In February, my squad and I traveled to Swaziland, to minister at an orphanage called El Shaadai. It’s located at the top of a mountain, with breath-taking views in almost every direction.
The Lord is doing a great work there, to raise up a generation that loves him. It has been predicted that in the year 2050, Swaziland will cease to exist, due to the overwhelmingly high rate of aids. However, I believe God will use one of the smallest and weakest countries, to one day be a leader for Africa.
One of my favorite ways to serve is doing hands on things, and there were a lot of projects! A
few of them included digging trenches for water lines, making a large vegetable garden, weeding corn fields and expanding their chicken coop. It is their goal to one day be self-sustaining.
In addition to manual labor, there were many other areas to serve. They run a preschool, have after school tutoring, helping with the animals, cleaning, intercession, and helping care for the babies. The whole squad was together, so it also provided the opportunity for everyone to get to know one another better, and build each other up.
God really used us in this time to build, strengthen, and encourage the leaders and workers who have chosen to invest their lives into the 60 plus orphans who call El Shaadai their home. Even though El Shaadai may seem like it is somewhat hard to find now, I believe it won’t stay that way for long, as the testimonies of these children are spread not only in Swaziland, but all over the world.
God also began to help me see myself, and those around me through His eyes. In order to do that I had to let go of insecurities, and areas where I’ve limited Him, and myself. I am growing deeper in faith everyday, and believing that with God, all things are possible!
He is able to do anything above and beyond anything we could ever imagine- so dream big!
