It's hard to know where to begin…
So I guess I'll just start by saying that I can't believe we will be leaving for The World Race in nearly three weeks!! It's still somewhat surreal to me, but I'm sure it won't hit me until about three months in when I realize I'm not actually coming home for one year. Training camp was incredible and exactly what I needed to prepare me for this journey…but then I came home. Not to say that coming home is bad of course, just another part of the transition. It's been great to sleep in my comfy bed, take a hot shower, see my friends and family, and eat whatever I want whenever I want. Oh, and I can't forget – cuddling with my puppy! You know, just a few things that I'll be missing out on this next year.
That being said, these next couple of blogs will be about introducing you to the beginning of my journey. I'll be telling you a little about the amazing things I learned from training camp and the ways that I have already seen God move, and I am more than excited to introduce you to my family for this next year!
However, before we get started on that, here's a little update to the 5K this past week:
God has been so faithful throughout this whole fundraising experience! I was never really nervous about raising the money for some reason. Sure $15,000 is more money than I can imagine, but I always knew that if the Lord had called me to this journey, He would provide. However, He has never ceased to amaze me in the incredible ways He has done so, and the 5K was just a glimpse of His fulfilled promise.
My awesome teammates: Glen Pickens, Kim Butler, and Steven Reed.
The theme was 80's Jazzercise…just to spice it up a little bit!
We had over 100 participants!
After months and months of searching for a location, my managers happily agreed to host the 5K, and to my surpise, my biggest supporters were the kitchen staff!
Needless to say, all of your prayers were heard and truly answered. So thank you so much to everyone who showed up and supported the race this Saturday. Your participation and prayer means more than I could tell you! May God continue to bless you in your daily races as well (cheesy, I know, but I mean it!)
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
Hebrews 12:1-3
