I was recently reading in Judges and when I came across the story
of Samson, I learned something powerful and new that I thought I would
share with you.

Upon coming to Thailand I wanted to work in a Thai village, I
believe God placed that desire in me so strongly, and I could not
understand why it wasn’t coming to pass. Then I read Judges 14:4 “At
that time, the Philistines were in control of Israel, and the Lord
wanted to stir up trouble for them. That’s why he made Samson desire
that woman.” This was the first Philistine woman that Samson fell for,
but did not get. So the desire remained and because it was
unfullfilled, he ended up with Delilah. However by Samson pursuing his
desire that was disobedience to God, and it eventually led to his
destruction.

When you chase your desires – even if they are God given – instead of God it will always lead to destruction.
