Hey Everyone,
Happy Easter from Thailand!
Today was amazing a group of about 10 of us went up to the
highest peak in Thailand
and did a 3 kilometer hike. It was BEAUTIFUL there!!! (I hope to have pics
soon, but it depends on the internet) There were just mountains and valleys and
everything was so green, like home. There were pine trees!!!!! and ferns!!!! And
other evergreen trees. It even smelled like damp forest smell, and I got quite
homesick. We got to cross little foot bridges over creeks and just embrace the
beauty of God’s creation.
When we got to the top we had a little Bible study and then
spent a long time in prayer. It was wonderful! We also had some snacks and
enjoyed a breath taking view all the while hoping it would not rain on us (and
it didn’t).
The way down took us even longer and we got to enjoy such
lush greenery and some even climbed on vines. (no, not me) After coming down
the trail, we took our songtaew (truck taxi) further down the mountain to this
big amazing waterfall. It was so mesmerizing to look at. Benny climbed up the
side of the mountain to the top, now that took some determination.
But alas it was late afternoon by this point and it took 1-2
hours to get back so we departed and got drenched. You see this week is the
hottest week of the year, and tomorrow is theoretically the hottest day of the
year, so they have a big water festival. Basically they douse you with hoses
and buckets and supersoakers with water. Unfortunately when the weather turns
cold all the sudden and it starts to pour it loses a bit of its appeal. I’ve
gotten a bit of a chill the last 2 days from this. This festival will continue
on until Thursday, so until then I’ll be quite wet.
Tonight we went and ate Mexican to celebrate Easter…cuz
nothing says Easter like Mexican!
I just wanted to tell you about my Easter, I hope you all
are having a good one back there, today is one of the best Easters of my life.
Christ is risen, our redeemer lives, it’s time to celebrate!
