Sometimes I wonder about the power of a single day.
In one day your whole life can be changed on its axis, and in one day you can change someone else’s life.
There are the obvious life-changing things that occur in our lives, but what about the little things? The everyday choices that influence our day and essentially our lives. The things that reflect back on us as we go into our next day. Like, spending time with God vs. watching television, or taking that moment to do an act of kindness vs. getting to work 5 min early, or getting that to-do list accomplished vs. surfing the web…
How would our lives be different if we didn’t let the good or bad of yesterday hold us back from today? Or if instead of worrying and fighting for tomorrow we did what we could today?
What would happen if we harnessed the power of one day in our lives?
I have struggled with letting my actions from one day flow into the next and hold my head in shame from condemnation. God says in Ps 103 that he throws our sin as far from Him as the east is to the west. If God, who is ruler over all can let it go, why am I letting the devil hang out and condemn me one day to the next? Something had to change. Lately God has really been revealing to me the power of a single day. Yesterday I might not have done anything and hid from the world, that does not mean I have to do that today. When the devil comes at me to accuse, I can say, “Well, that was yesterday, it has nothing to do with today.” I’m tired of holding myself back in little ways for God to use me because I’m caught up in ‘yesterdays’.
Today is a new, glorious and wonderful day. Today God can use me how He couldn’t yesterday. Today is the only day that I can utilize. I’m given one day every morning, every morning is this wonderful special gift to have today. I want to do my best with my gift, regardless of all my yesterdays.
What will you do with your one day?
