I’ve been home for five weeks now and the time has literally flown by. I now have eight days until I leave Baton Rouge and head to Atlanta for launch!

Since being home I have had a lot of time to catch up with family and friends and I have loved every second. You would think with the amount of stuff you can fit into a backpack that it would only take a few hours to pack. I may be doing something wrong, but it is taking me DAYS to pack. I am slowly organizing and going through what I think I need verses what I actually need. It is incredible when you get down to the basics, what someone actually needs to survive.

My family hosted a yard sale for me last weekend and we raised almost $500! What a blessing! I also enjoyed talking with people about my trip.

This coming weekend, my friends are helping me to host a going away party/dessert fundraiser. I am looking forward to seeing friends and family I have yet to see since being home.

It seems incredibly surreal that I will be leaving home in about a week. Thanks to technology, I was able to visit with my team last night. We laughed and chatted about packing and the fact that we will be in China soon. We also talked about the goodbyes, how they are getting harder and the things that make us cry. What an incredible group of people to have for support during this process.

In the final days of being home and in all the busyness of saying goodbye, it is sometimes hard to remember why I wanted to come on this trip in the first place. Then I remember this quote I discovered at training camp this July.

“God is looking for men and women through whom He can do the impossible.”

-A.W. Tozer

I had probably walked under this quote 50 times by the time I noticed it at training camp. It was posted on the entry way of the chapel at Tocca Falls College in Georgia where training camp was held. And the first time I noticed it was half way through the week.

This quote reminds me why I signed up to go on the World Race. I am ready to see the world and travel, but I am also going because I am ready to be used. I am ready to be His hands and feet. I am ready to show Christ’s love to people around the globe. This makes me excited about all this next year will bring.

Things to pray for this week:

  • Please be praying for my family during my last week at home
  • Pray that my last fundraiser will be successful
  • Pray that my family and I will have a safe journey to launch in Atlanta
  • Please pray for my squad as we leave on September 10 for China. Pray that we have a safe flight with no complications
