Graceful Avalanche

Those two words seem like they don’t really go together, don’t they? Well, they kind of don’t. But they do. That is the name of my new team…
Yep, I am on a new team for this month [For those keeping track this is team number six for me]. Since the men of our squad are all together in South Sudan this month [doing amazing things!], the women are all doing ministry together.
Our squad has two teams with men on them and so the women from the two teams merged together since our men are together. I was on one of the teams that had men on it and since they are not here I am now on an all women’s team. We are not sure yet if this will be our team after the men come back to our squad, but what we do know is that we are a team at least for month 8.
Our name took a few days for us to decide on. We all loved the word graceful. We as a team of women want to be graceful women. Not only graceful, but also, full of grace. That part we had pretty much decided on during our first team meeting. We were trying to find what would go well with it. We tossed around many words that would go well with graceful, but nothing seemed to fit right. Then the word avalanche came up. It sounds awful right? Powerful, destructive, wipes out anything in its path? Well, the figurative definition of avalanche is, “a sudden arrival or occurrence of something in overwhelming quantities.” That is what we want. We want the Spirit to show up suddenly and in overwhelming quantities. We want to be graceful women who bring that Spirit in our steps. So yes, it is not traditional… but neither are we. Welcome to team Graceful Avalanche!
