This is a season of
sunburns and tan lines.
This is a season for
sweating and smelly clothes.
This is a season for resting
and remembering the source of joy.
This is a season for learning to
love no matter the circumstance.
This is a season to prefer
others over myself… and enjoy it.
This is a season of close knit
community and cuddles.
This is a season to ask
questions and wait for answers.
This is a season to hurry up
and wait and have good conversations.
This is a season of taking public
transportation and riding in trucks
This is a season to let my hair down
in the wind and get bleached by the sun.
To fasting. To church 5 days a week.
To riding in the truck bed under the stars.
To challenges of my faith.
To pushing through questions
To loving like Jesus.
To laughing at stories I’ve never heard.
To reading the Bible with new eyes.
To getting words spoken to me.
To speaking words to others.
This is El Salvador.
This is a season.
I wrote this the other night while trying to figure out just how to put into words what this month is doing to me. It is wrecking me and challenging me in the best ways possible. I am so thankful for my team, for our ministry, for our amazing contacts, for feedback sessions that go deep, for people pushing me to walk in the truth of who God created me to be. Yes this month is hot. Yes this month I sweat more. Yes this month is interesting. Yes this month is challenging. But this month is so good. This is the only way I know how to put it in words. I am loving this month. God is so good to me. My joy is just overflowing in this country so much.
Much love,
-A
