As I was flying from San Diego to Los Angeles… which was only about a 30 minute flight…I stared out my window just looking at the landscape of the night. Nothing but lights and lights for miles and miles. Then I saw it.
I wasn’t sure what it was at first. But I guaged about how long we had been flying, and knew the general direction and figured we were just about to reach anaheim. For those of you who don’t know, Anaheim is home of DISNEYLAND!!! Every night there are fireworks at Disneyland. I just happened to be on a plane flying low enough to see them, but far enough away for them to be very small.
When we think of fireworks, we think huge display of light and color. We think loud and crowded. OOOOhhhhhs and AAAAAhhhhhs….
But last night I saw them from a whole new perspective. These fireworks that have been huge my entire life, were suddenly not much bigger than a traffic light. The way I saw them made sparklers look like a mountain. I watched them and wondered how many people were down below staring in wonder and amazement at these fireworks. how many children had fallen asleep in their strollers long before this moment came. Then I thought of the race. My race.
I thought of this goal. how it seems so big when i am standing down below. and when i tell peope about it they stare in wonder. some get scared because it is loud and bold. some don’t like it for the same reason. but others are struck with awe that such a thing is possible. Even myself. when i think of how much this costs, how BIG this firework is, I realize I was looking at it from the wrong perspective. Because God is so much bigger than this. God has provided time and time again for squads and squads of peope doing the exact same thing. God looks down at this goal and sees it just like I saw those fireworks from 8,000 feet in the air. miniscule. He provides for his children when they ask.
How amazing is that?! like wow for real?? he cares THAT much??? What???
it is absolutely mind blowing to me.
As a side note… a little update on how things are going:
I currently have approximately $1,553.75 in my account!! That is a little under $2000 that I need to make it to training camp!!
I ordered my pack!
I found out I am driving to training camp with another girl from Michigan and a girl from Ohio!!
My prayer cards are in!!
I am still selling threads of hope bracelets!
My T-shirt design is almost complete!
