So, I feel as though I should keep everyone included on what we’ve been up to for the past week or so.

We left Guatemala on Saturday, June 9.  We took a 14 hour bus ride from Guatemala to Tegucigalpa, Honduras where the rest of our squad was doing ministry for the time that we had been helping our friend recover from an appendectomy.  We were so happy to be back with everyone, especially our team because we hadn’t seen them in 1.5 months (we were separated for Man-istry and Woman-istry).

Our time in Honduras was short-lived though.

Many of you may know this, but my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February (2012) and had his prostate removed on May 18.  Since then he has been between the hospital and home recovering, but the recovery process has been very complicated.

It seemed that most of the complications had passed and he was going to recover well from this point on when this past Sunday, June 10, his health took a turn and he was re-admitted into the hospital.  He had some very scary things happen (that I don’t really understand), but he is back on the road to recovery now.

On Wednesday we were able to talk to my mom (we hadn’t had internet before then) to get the scoop on what was going on, and she told us what had been happening with my dad.  After talking to her, we made the decision to come home for a week or two and help out with caring for my dad.

My brother is also here, a long trip from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be with my dad and help with caring for him.  My dad is slowly but surely recovering from his latest complications.  He is in the hospital and will be here for an undetermined amount of time (2-4 weeks).  Matt (brother), Chris and I have created shifts and will be with my dad around the clock for the next week so that my mom can spend some time at home and getting good sleep.

We don’t know how long we will be home at this point, but we do want to eventually return to the Race if possible.

Please pray for my dad and his recovery.
