So finally, this blog summarizes what we spent our time doing in Bulgaria.

We went into the month thinking that we were going to be with team Amaranthine for the month, but when got to the Mission Possible headquarters building, we found out that team Amaranthine was going to stay there to do some projects around the building, and team 220 was heading out to Dorbamirka to work at the conference center.

Mission Possible is a humongous organization and does all sorts of things in Bulgaria.  Please visit their website to learn more (http://www.mp.org/node/76).

Our job while working with Mission Possible, was to work on the new conference center building in Dorbamirka.

We lived and worked at this conference center in the small village for the entire month.  The following list summarizes the things that we were able to do while there:

-Clean out the attic (move boxes to the basement, clean up leftover supplies from original construction of the building, move spare furniture and supplies to one organized area, sweep everything)
– Help with yardwork (raked up the pinecones, pine needles and leaves several times, edged around the sidewalk)
– Cleaned up the backyard of the conference center so that grass will grow there (I think that the backyard was previously used as a trash dump, so we weeded the yard and then raked up all of the junk that was out there and hauled it away)
– Cleaned all insides and outsides of the windows
– Prepared the conference center for 2 separate conferences (cleaned all 25+ rooms and bathrooms, made the beds, cleaned the hallways and lounges, cleaned the kitchen)
– Just generally had good fellowship with Nasco, Didi, and Alex (our contacts from Mission Possible for the month… Alex was our translator, and Nasco and Didi live at the conference center and maintain it year-round)
-Participated in church services at 3 different churches, giving testimonies and singing
– Played with the kids from the neighborhood during their week-long Easter break

Fun things that we had the opportunity to do while there:
– Celebrate Easter!
– Went on a day trip with a group of people from one of the churches we visited.  We went to a monastery and to a lake together
– Chris and I hosted a dinner party for all of the people on our team (we called it the celebration of singleness)
– Celebrated Ashley’s 22nd birthday
– Explored Veliko Tunrovo, Bulgaria

Overall we had a great month.  I really enjoyed the time that we had as a team and the opportunities to talk with and get to know our contacts better.  It was a great opportunity to help Mission Possible as they prepared their conference center and I pray that the conference center would be a blessing to those who use it.
