As I sit here, posting this blog, I thank God for the ability to taste, see, hear, smell, feel and love. Tonight is the first thunderstorm of Spring, and quite frankly, it's incredibly beautiful. The music is turned down low, the lights are off, and the pitter patter of rain taps the rooftop right above my room. The window is slightly cracked and the beautiful smell of the rain is flooding in.

Every time it rains, I'm reminded of the story of the Great Flood.

Genesis 6:9 (NIV) "Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God."  How would you like to have that title? -Blameless Among The People; Walking With God- Noah was relentless after the One. God specifically chose Noah because of his faithfulness. He was specific with His directions. He didn't just say "Alright Noah, I want you to build a really big boat because it's going to rain and the whole world is going to die except for your family and the animals with you." No. God was specific to the core! Genesis 6:14-17 (NIV) "So make yourself and ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. [15] This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. [16] Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. [17] I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish." And Noah did EXACTLY what God told him to do.

What if every one of us listened for the voice of God and then did EXACTLY what He told us to do? Would there be a change? Would any of it matter? DUH!! Genesis 8:1 (NIV) "But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded." We are reassured by this that God will do the same in our lives. The flood waters may rise in the situations we face, but if we put our faith in God and build our ark to his standards, the waters will subside and the flood will bring renewing to our lives. There is always sunshine after the rain. God gives us things that we can't handle alone, but we can handle everything with God. He might let you bend, but He will never let you break.
