Meet Mervyn.

Mervyn is in his early twenty’s and has been a Christian for two years.  Since becoming a Christian, he has started an English club in Ho Chi Minh City to help local young people learn and practice English.  His ultimate goal, however, is more than just providing people opportunities for a better future by knowing English.  The Lord has given him a passion to reach his own people…to introduce them to a Savior who will completely change their life, not just give them a better life.  He is concerned for their eternal futures, not just the next ten years.  And that is exactly what he is doing.  He holds classes several nights a week and picks topics of conversation that point to Christ and prompt questions about the gospel.  He gets to know the students and shares the love of Jesus with them.

In the short time that I got to talk with Mervyn, his passion and excitement for sharing the gospel was contagious.  I loved hearing his story and the way the Lord is using him to reach the Vietnamese people.  Mervyn is just a regular guy but he is bringing about change in a young generation and that makes him a hero.  He is being obedient and bold.  This is what the Lord asks of each of us every single day.  Be obedient and be bold.  Are you doing that today?

Please join me in praying for Mervyn and his English club.  He is currently looking for a new space to rent to hold classes, as the building they have been using has gotten too expensive.  He also is in need of Christian, native English speakers to volunteer at his English club.  He had about 20 volunteers at one time but most have moved on from Ho Chi Minh or from Vietnam entirely.
