Ephesians 1:17-23
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
This last week I’ve felt the Holy Spirit guiding me and teaching me a lot. It started last Tuesday when my friend and sister in Christ, Sue, said that as I spoke at church for my sending off she saw a vision. She said she saw me on top of a huge wave. I was surfing. I was on the top of the wave, completely balanced and smiling. We know that water represents the Holy Spirit and I’ve sought the LORD on the interpretation of what this vision meant, beyond just what could easily be interpreted. What is the deeper meaning?
These verses speak on the Holy Spirit
John 4:13-14
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 7:37-39
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
The power within you! It says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” No one can fathom eternity.
God is limitless, He isn’t defined by time and space. He is outside of these, He is an all-present God. His understanding has no limits, He is infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful. The same power that resurrected Jesus from the dead lives inside of us. Surely we can do all things. With God all things are possible. Our infinite God who knows all things, who can do all things, who chooses us and works through us, LIVES IN US! We can do absolutely NOTHING on our own. Absolutely nothing! That’s just it, we can do nothing, but with the Holy Spirit we can do anything and everything through Him. How wonderful, it is if we truly and fully grasp this. Grasp this and never let this truth of God go. By the power of the Holy Spirit, He gives us the boldness to speak, He intercedes for us through wordless groans, gives us insight, wisdom, discernment, knowledge, literally everything! Nothing is impossible when God Himself is in us. Our God became man, the man Christ Jesus. And our God chooses to dwell in man, that is the Holy Spirit.
The resurrection is hope. He brings us to life. Apart from Christ I am nothing, I can do nothing, and I gain nothing. But with Christ, I am a co-heir with Him, I can do all things, and I know it is nothing of myself which gives me this ability but it is the Holy Spirit, God himself who resides in me. Who resides in all who believe and give their life to Jesus.
It’s so easy to get anxious, fearful, worried, about so many endless things and situations. When in all reality, God calls us not to be any of those things. Let His peace which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds. He calls us to be bold and courageous ( God is our strength, nothing can harm us and nothing can separate us from the love of God). “…the righteous are as bold as a lion” Proverbs 28:1
In life and on this mission we have been called on, I will rest fully on and in the Holy Spirit because it is Him who makes me able to do all things.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
God says, ““Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. (Isaiah 55:1-2)
Tonight we will be in Ecuador, which we will be sharing the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ, for three months. Please continue to pray for our squad (Gap J) that God would work mightily through us, by the power of the Holy Spirit!
God bless y’all!
