The way that God works is mysterious and full of wonders. Yet He makes His plans and promises simply known to us. It takes FAITH to believe.
God can’t lie. He can’t go back on His Word, He does not change. What He has said is truth. God can do nothing that goes against who He is. He can’t do anything apart from His character. Now that is truth, scripture clearly states this.
Let’s look at Elijah for example. He represented the prophets, and as James 5:17-18 says,” Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”
Elijah was a man, a human being just as we are, yet by the power of prayer God used Elijah to make Himself known. “After a long time, in the third year, the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.” (1 Kings 18:1)
God said that He would send rain on the land after Elijah would present himself to King Ahab. Then the show down takes place on Mount Carmel (18:16-40). And God sends down fire from heaven and “burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.”(18:38). Showing that the LORD He is God. Now it’s time for the rain to come, and we see the way that Elijah prayed, and how he had to be persistent in prayer.
“And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’” (18:41-44).
God had already said He was going to send the rain and yet we see Elijah, bent down on the ground with his face between his knees, praying earnestly that it would rain. Seven times he prayed to God until finally a small cloud as small as a man’s hand rose from the sea. With the report of the cloud, only the size a man fists, Elijah believed that God had sent the rain and said “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you. (v.44)
God told Elijah what was going to happen, Elijah still had to pray earnestly that it would not rain, and it didn’t. Again God told him He will send rain, and Elijah again had to prayed earnestly and it rained. It’s so mysterious the way God works. He wants us to pray earnestly and be persistent in prayer.
In scripture for example Jesus gives the parable of the Persistent Widow who for her persistence was granted her request (Luke 18:1-8). “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” (Luke 18:1)
“Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.(Luke 11:5-10).
Persistence in prayer is the key. Yet God clearly and simple says, “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!” (Isaiah 65:24 NLT)
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” (Matthew 18:19-20).
God works in ways our minds can’t comprehend. His understanding has no limits. “A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.” (Psalm 90:4). We can’t limit God all we have to do is have faith and believe what He has said. He knows everything we need before we ever ask for it. He promises that He will take care of us. He hears our cries and answers our requests when they line up with His will. We are told to ask and we are told to believe. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” ( John 14:12-14)
The last few weeks’ money has come in for this next deadline, and I praise Jesus for it! It’s just like the cloud the size of a man’s hand, and it’s visible. God has heard every single prayer and I completely believe He is going to provide the money that’s still needed. My deadline for $10,000 is September 16th, currently theirs $7,025 and I believe God has sent the rain! That’s faith, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen( Hebrews 11:1).
I want to thank everyone so much for constantly praying for me, for generously giving, for fasting with me! I’m truly blessed to have you all in my life, and I know God is going to bless you for your faithfulness and persistence in prayer!
“For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.” Psalm 50: 10-12
Everything is Gods!!! Amen 🙂
