So I’ve been home for three weeks now.
I guess it’s time to really tell everyone what my plans are.
I don’t even know where to start.
So I guess I’ll start from the beginning.
It started in Swaziland.
Month 8.
I started to ask God what He had for me after the race,
seeing as I’m the type of person who likes to have direction.
The first thing I heard was photography classes.
Sweet.
The next thing:
Uganda.
I didn’t know how or when, but I knew I was going to Uganda.
The next month in Thailand,
there was a Passport team at SHE and we got to hang out with them, do ministry with them, pour into them.
The Passport is a college age trip through AIM that is 2-9 months long.
Usually they clock in at around 4 months.
The leader of the team in Thailand, Amber Kincaid, spoke so much life into me that entire month.
I admired the way she led her team and wanted to be just like her.
I also may or may not have a gigantic woman crush on her.
Either way, I began to think about leading a Passport team to Uganda.
I applied, sent in references, and anxiously awaited the email telling me when my phone interview would be.
Two months later, it still hadn’t come.
So I took that as God closing the door on that and decided to pray about other options.
About a week after I got home, I got the email I had been waiting for.
I did the phone interview a few days ago, not really knowing what to expect, not really sure if this was the path that God had me on.
I prayed about it for a few days and didn’t really get much of an answer.
Unless you count the way that my pulse would quicken every time I would think about it.
I got the email today offering me the opportunity to lead a team of college age students to Uganda leaving August 27th.
Yes.
August.
And yes.
I do realize that is only a month and a half away.
But didn’t I just finish writing a blog about how if I had my way, I would be on a plane to Africa?
Well… I guess I’m gonna get my way this time.
So, with this amazing opportunity also comes the need for support.
I have to raise roughly $1,500 for this trip, which to me, seems incredibly easy compared to the $16,000 I had to raise for the race.
I would be incredibly honored if you would partner with me to help change the lives of people in Uganda, but also change the lives of young people my age.
As a leader, my ministry is just as much my team as it is the people we are there to minister to.
I also need an abundance of prayer.
Prayer for my family and myself as we all prepare for me to leave again so soon.
Prayer for finances. I have no doubt in my mind that God will come through for me, but a little extra prayer never hurt anyone.
Prayer for peace. I am so excited to have this opportunity, but there are a lot of things I need to do in order to leave.
So if you would like be involved with what God is doing in Uganda, please do not hesitate!
Your time is NOW.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to go (and really,
you are too), but even if you aren’t on that plane, you have the amazing opportunity of being directly involved from your own home AND blessing a lot of people (including me).
The form is already filled out, you just need to put in the amount.
I love you all and thank you so much for continuing to support me throughout this crazy journey the Lord has me on.
Uganda, here I coooommee!
