It’s true.
I’m going home.
No fundraising fake-out this time.
It’s really happening.
On Monday afternoon, I will get on a plane
and I will fly home.
TO AFRICA!
I don’t think anyone really understands the love I have in my heart for this beloved land, and that’s okay with me. But honestly, since the moment I stepped off the plane in Ghana almost 3 years ago, I knew I was home. Never have I felt so alive. Never have I been so at peace.
Katie Davis, a woman I look up to described it like this:
“I felt I was born to be there, and in many ways, living there seemed more natural than living in my native country. I had the unexplainable feeling, a settled knowing that I was where I was made to be. I knew deep in my soul that I was home.”
I have literally been counting down the seconds until I would be back in my beautiful, messy, heartbreaking, joy-filled Africa.
And now, 2 years, 11 months and 13 days later, it is FINALLY happening.
And let me tell you.
I am so ready to be home.
