“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Acknowledge Him in all of your ways, and He will make your paths straight.”

(Proverbs 3:5-6)

“Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”

(Jesus to Martha, John 11:40)

These verses have been resonating almost daily in my mind over the past year. It’s been a hard year, filled with pressures, sorrows, periods of waiting, and difficult lessons. The main thing God has continually been teaching me has been to not merely stop at my interpretation of things going on around me, but to look through His perspective, and proceed not out of my own wisdom and logic but out of consideration for Who He is.

In January, I will be leaving for an 11-month missions trip to 11 different countries, ministering alongside about 30 of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ to “the least of these” around the world. We will be trading the comforts, securities, and familiarity of home for a 60L backpack, a sleeping bag, and a tent, traveling to three continents and preaching the Gospel through actions and words.

I’ve never been so excited about something in my life.

I’ve also never been so scared about something in my life.

BUT GOD.

My God is the God of the Impossible Things.

My God is my Good Shepherd, Who fully meets all of my needs.

My God is my Sustainer, my Strength, my Security, and my Lord.

My God is enough.

I choose to trust in my Lord instead of in my limited perceptions.

I choose to believe, despite the multitude of impossibilities, roadblocks, fears, and other things my mind keeps telling me to freak out over, that God moves in His ways in order to display His glory, and to submit to the methods of His choosing, trusting (and resting!) that He will meet.

I invite you to join me along this journey, to read from my class notes as I enter this next “semester” under the Master Teacher’s tutelage. I will (Lord willing) be adding more updates and information as the weeks go on, from the preparation phase to actually being out on the field until we get back in November 2016.

Please let me hear from you! I realize I am not alone in this journey, as our good Father is constantly taking each of His children through our own custom lesson plans to learn in a deeper way Who He is. As I am sharing testimony of the ways He is meeting me, please do likewise so we can encourage one another in this walk!

To God be the Glory!
