Guatemala stole my heart right off the bat in March of 2008. Hands down one of my favorite places on earth. I spent my first month there in San Pedro; a small village on the side of Lake Atilan. Stunningly beautiful and full of incredible color and passion, the lake-side lifestyle is a tough one for most families living there. We partnered with a local pastor and church and spent most of our time encouraging the small congregation.
While prayer walking one day we ran into the love of my life. Adonis. His smile and spirit captured my heart and we were fast friends. We didn’t speak a word of his native language, but through digital cameras, ipods and funny faces we overcame the language barrier. Adonis struggles from a life-threatning disease that leaves him struggling for breath and movement in his lungs. Over the course of our time there we prayed mightily for his healing and I am still believing today that God has touched his little body and brought complete restoration. You can read his whole story here.Through your support and encouragement the life of Adonis and his family was impacted. I was able to show Jesus to them through tangible hugs, meals, and time with the family. We prayed fervently for his healing each day with the family and are still believing with them.
